The Regular Session for May 6, 2014 of the City of Hiram was called to order by Mayor Doris A. Devey at 6:30 pm in the Hiram Community Center.

Meeting attendees: Mayor Doris Devey, Mayor Pro Tem Pep Rollins, Councilperson Teresa Philyaw, Councilperson Derrick Battle, Councilperson Kathy Carter, Councilperson Kathy Bookout, Robbie Rokovitz, Kelly Hundley, Cynthia Geyer, Chief VandeZande, Carmen Rollins, Paul Burleson, Helene Fitzgerald, Bob Bookout, Jason James, SGT Dunbar, Gary Davis, Dwayne & Clayton Graham.

  • Pastor Gary Davis presented the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The April 1, 2014 Regular Session Minutes, April 29, 2014 Work Session Minutes were approved.
  • Chief VandeZande recognized SGT Jesse Dunbar for his 4th Golden Shield Award from MADD.
  • Authorized a $1,500.00 contribution to support the 2014 “Give a Kid a Chance” Hiram Backpack program at Hiram Elementary School in July 2014.
  • Authorized the Police Department SPLOST purchase of two (2) 2015 Ford Explorer SUV/AWD vehicles for assignment to the Uniform patrol Division from Allan Vigil Ford for $26,674.00 each.
  • Adopted the City of Hiram Ordinance 2014-02, Chapter 7 Special Events.
  • Tabled the discussion and vote on the agreement with VC-3 for Information Systems Support and Services until the May 17th Work Session.
  • No Visitor Business
  • Mayor Announced the Opening Ceremony for Veterans Park at the Watson Government Complex on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Also, Hiram will be hosting the E-Recycle Day at the Events Place on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00am – 1:00pm.
  • The City Council will meet for a Work Session on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 9:00am.
  • The Regular Session was adjourned.
