Commissioners Approve Rezoning for Film Firm

A film studio equipment vendor is expected to locate on land rezoned during Tuesday's Paulding Board of Commissioners meeting.

The stars could soon stay in Paulding—or at least could stay in trailers based in Paulding.

The at their business session Tuesday night approved an application from the county’s Industrial Building Authority to rezone an 8.821-acre property at Bill Carruth Parkway and Nebo Road from B-1 General Business to B-2 Highway Business to allow for a film studio equipment vendor to locate there. The firm will also maintain office space and will store film equipment.

“The Industrial Building Authority purchased [the land] about three or four years ago and zoned it to B-1, which is general business. They got interest from a film equipment [firm]—they have the trailers and campers that stars stay in on different sites, whether it’s here in this county, in another county or another state, but they will house those there and keep them maintained,” said Chris Robinson, division manager of Planning and Zoning for the county, following Tuesday’s meeting. “The reason they had to go the B-2 district is because B-1 does not allow outside storage, and the B-2 would.”
