County Recognizes 911 Education Month

This week was dedicated to the county's public safety communications officers.

Each year, April is recognized as 911 Education Month. The second full week of April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety communications officers. Commission Chairman David Austin and the proclaimed the week of April 8 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Public Safety Agencies nationwide recognize the pivotal role played by communications officers. The Paulding County E-911 Communications Center celebrates this year’s National Telecommunicators Week in honor of the dedicated communications officers who, last year, handled more than 290,000 emergency and non-emergency calls for the residents of Paulding County. Paulding County communications officers manage dispatch services for the , and The communications officers at Paulding County E-911 are a team of highly trained and dedicated emergency communications professionals who are ready to respond to the needs of the public in emergency situations. Communications officers are the first and most critical contact the citizens have with emergency services and are the single most vital link for emergency responders. By monitoring responders’ activities and providing them with critical information, they help insure the safety of law enforcement officers and firefighters. Communications officers of the Paulding County E-911 Center have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires and treatment of patients.
