County Commission: Both elections involving the Paulding County Board of Commissioners are contested. Commission Chairman David Austin is being challenged by Tony Crowe, while the Post 1 commission seat is being sought by David Carmichael and Heidi Leggett; Post 1 Commissioner Larry Ragsdale had initially qualified to run for reelection .

TSPLOST: Expect to hear the term “TSPLOST” (Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) throughout the summer. The Transportation Investment Act referendum is putting a proposed 10-year, 1-percent sales tax up for consideration by voters in Paulding and all across the state. Senate District 31: Two Dallas residents—Bill Carruth and J.K. Rogers—are running as Republicans as they seek to unseat Bill Heath, R-Bremen. Whomever emerges victorious from the July 31 primary election will go on to take office in January as no Democrats or independents sought the legislative seat. Earlier this month, we brought you .

House District 66: There is no incumbent in this newly created district, which will cover a portion of Paulding County. A Douglasville resident is guaranteed to win the Republican nomination this summer, as all three men in the GOP primary—Michael “Mike” Miller, Bob Snelling and Mickey Thompson—all hail from there. The emerging candidate will face opposition from Dallas’ Kimberly Alexander, the sole Democrat vying for the seat.

U.S. Representative, District 14: Tom Graves, R-Ranger, . Graves will have no opposition from his own party in his bid to remain in the House, but the November election will have him facing off with Daniel “Danny” Grant of Fort Oglethorpe.
