Debate for Senate Seat Set for Tuesday

The three men vying for a state senate seat that impacts Paulding are slated to be in attendance at the debate in Dallas.

A state senate seat that covers parts of Paulding is set to be decided by the July 31 Republican primary after no Democrats qualified in the race. , the three men vying for the seat will face off in .

State Sen. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, is being challenged in the District 31 race by two men from Dallas—Bill Carruth and J.K. Rogers. All three candidates are scheduled to be in attendance at the for Tuesday’s debate that will focus solely on the senate race.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will be moderated by Jim Galloway, the man behind the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's “Political Insider” column.

According to Lydia Hallmark of the Paulding County Republican Women’s Club, the group sponsoring the debate, questions to be directed at the candidates will be drawn from a bowl by Galloway; the candidates will not be be told what the questions are in advance.

The questions will be no more than one minute long and can be directed at a single candidate, the entire group or a combination thereof.

No questions will be taken from the audience, though audience members will be able to visit with the candidates prior to and after the event.
