Devey Vying for Hiram Mayor’s Office

Doris Devey is one of two candidates for Hiram's vacant mayor position.

Doris Devey says the city of Hiram has changed in the past eight years since she and her family moved into it. If the voters today give her the nod, she’ll serve as the city’s mayor for a term just shy of four years.

Devey declined to be interviewed on camera by Dallas-Hiram Patch, but sent a document outlining her platform and reasons behind her pursuit of the mayor’s office.

“Growth comes with ups and downs,” Devey wrote. “With my past business experience in the corporate world and the knowledge of running my own business for 15 years, I truly believe that myself along with our intelligent City Council can keep the City of Hiram competitive in growth, while still maintaining its Historical Heritage, along with running the City to its budgets, holding myself if elected and City Council members accountable for their decisions, including all employees of the City of Hiram.”

Devey says her work experience will help her if elected. Her past jobs include corporate market trainer, national/regional sales training manager, owner/operator of a residential and commercial cleaning service, and nuclear inspector.

“My personal beliefs are this:  The ‘City of Hiram’ is a business and its citizens hire the Mayor and City Council (by elections) to run their business,” she added. “These individuals that are hired should be held accountable for the running of a successful, profitable business without exception.”
