Dirt Moves at Film Studio's Groundbreaking Ceremony

Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County is set to open late this year in Hiram and could employ up to 300 people when up and running.

Local leaders, community members and those involved with the film industry were on hand Tuesday for the groundbreaking ceremony at the site of Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County in Hiram, slated to open late this year.

The full-service film and television production facility is set to be the first production facility in decades to be developed outside of Atlanta’s city center, according to RoadTown Enterprises Ltd., the firm overseeing all phases of the studio development, design and construction. The Paulding County Industrial Building Authority has also contracted with RoadTown for management, operations and marketing services once the facility is completed.

RoadTown officials say the productions using the studio could employ up to 300 people. The studio’s nearly 80,000-square-foot campus will consist of two 20,000-square-foot soundstages, 27,000 square feet of mill/storage/construction space, and another 11,000 square feet of production offices, dressing rooms and wardrobe space—all situated on 11 acres.
