Facilities Focus of Today’s County Meetings

The Paulding Board of Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., while the county school board meets at 6:15 p.m. Return to Dallas-Hiram Patch for coverage of these meetings.

County facilities will be the focus of meetings held by two Paulding entities today.

members at their 6:15 p.m. meeting will consider a request for an exemption to district Regulation KG-R, which deals with the use of school facilities. A homeschool football program in the county is seeking to continue to use at no cost the football field at Dobbins Middle School.

“We have an organization who has utilized one of our athletic fields for quite some time now. We recently revised KG-R to add a stipulation of a $150 fee per use of an athletic field,” Associate Superintendent Brian Otott said. “We entered into an agreement with this group prior to that regulation becoming effective, so what we’re going to ask the board is to approve this exception since we had a relationship with them not to charge them with the use of the football field.”

Prior to the school board’s meeting, will meet twice, as they’ll gather for their 10 a.m. work session and 2 p.m. business session.

The facility issue commissioners will consider is a proposed purchase of chairs and chair dollies for the county’s Senior Community Center. If approved, Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds would go toward the $59,086.56 purchase from Advantage Office Solutions.

Commissioners also will consider approving two resolutions. One will designate a recorder of minutes for executive sessions, while the other will designate department-level open records officers and alternate open records officers.

Three items are on commissioners’ consent agenda and could be approved by one vote. They are:

  • The appointment of Tommy Morris, Matthew J. Reinagel and James W. Steele to the Alcohol License Review Board for a term ending on Dec. 31.
  • Revision of the Alcohol Beverage License and Permit Fee Schedule with an effective date of July 1 of this year.
  • An amendment the July 10 Board of Commissioners work session minutes to state that Commissioner David Barnett will present his payback check to Finance Director Tabitha Pollard to be used toward public safety expenses. The amendment is aimed at reflecting that only Barnett presented his payback check and not Commissioner Todd Pownall as previously indicated.

The commissioners' work session agenda is attached to this article.
