Field Set for Hiram Mayor’s Race

The final hours of qualifying were quiet Wednesday, as no residents visited city hall to file for candidacy. That means the March 6 race will be between the two individuals who qualified Monday and Tuesday.

Don Brown, a former Hiram councilman, , while Doris Devey, who has never sought elected office in Hiram, . Voters will have the chance to select one of the two during the March 6 special election.

The special election day is the same day as the presidential preference primary, but the elections will be separate. Those wishing to cast ballots for mayor will go to the Hiram Community Center on Main Street—also the site of early voting—but those wanting to make a selection in the presidential race will have to travel to their assigned county polling place. Early voting will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 27-March 2; polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 6.

Hiram residents have until Feb. 6 to register to vote in time for the March 6 elections.
