Frugal Family: $10 Rabies Shots Offered on Saturday

Dress like a cow, or a partial cow, on Friday to "git" free food at any Chick-fil-A— except the one in Dallas, which will not be open until July 14.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This week, Frugal Family reporter Carolyn Cunningham scoured our local sources to come up with the following:

  • low-cost rabies shots on Saturday,
  • free Chick-fil-A food on Friday—if you dress even partially like a cow,
  • a $5 token deal at Stevi B's in Hiram on Friday,
  • $5 dancing on Friday to benefit the Paulding County Senior Center and
  • discounted Six Flags Over Georgia tickets:

1. Low-cost Rabies Shots on Saturday

Deal: Paulding County Animal Control will host a rabies clinic Saturday afternoon. Rabies shots are $10 each. Only cash will be accepted.

All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in a carrier. Officials ask that two completed copies of the Rabies Certificate be brought. 

Hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

2. Dress Up Like a Chick-fil-A Cow for Free Food

Deal: Another Cow Appreciation Day occurs on Friday at Chick-fil-A restaurants. By visiting this link, you even may download a free partial cow costume by clicking the middle yellow balloon next to the cow's knees. You "git" free food if you wear a cow costume (head to hoof) for a meal—or even part of a cow costume for an entree.

The Dallas Chick-fil-A at 300 Charlie Watts Drive on U.S. 278 at Ga. 61 will not be open until July 14.

3. Stevi B's Holds "Fiesta Friday" This Friday

Deal:  in Hiram will hold a "Fiesta Friday" on Friday. If you buy $5 in tokens, you will get $5 in free tokens.

Ongoing specials include 99 cents for children's meals after 4 p.m.

4. $5 Prime Time Dance on Friday

Deal: On the second Friday night of each month, Prime Time Dance is held in Dallas for couples and singles 40 and older. RA the DJ takes requests for popular country/western and oldies tunes. The latest line dances also are taught. All proceeds benefit the Paulding County Senior Center. 

Cost: $5 at the door.

Hours: 7 to 10 p.m. Friday.

5. Discounted Six Flags Over Georgia Tickets

Deal: Six Flags Over Georgia tickets may be bought for $30 instead of $52.99 in Historic Downtown Douglasville. (The daily parking fee is an additional $15.) A limited supply is available. The newest attraction is the Dare Devil Dive.
