Frugal Family: Free Festival, Free Food

Weekend events are among the money-saving ideas we've brought you this week.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column is dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

Seven Hills Fall Consignment Sale on Friday and Saturday

Children's clothing from infant to teens will be sold as well as nursery items, maternity clothing, books, toys and more. Cash and check only will be accepted. There will be limited stroller access. Many items will be half off on Saturday.

When: Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Seven Hills Subdivision Clubhouse, Seven Hills Boulevard off Cedarcrest/Ga. 92 across from ., Dallas.

Cost: Free admission.

3rd Annual Public Safety & Family Appreciation Day Festival on Saturday 

"Honoring Those Who Protect Us" is the theme of this annual festival to honor and show appreciation for the men and women who serve our community and protect our lives. Guests will include Captain Herb Emory from WSB AM 750 and FM 99.5, members of state and local legislative delegations and a live radio broadcast provided by South 107's Kevin Daniels. Honored guests will be public safety leaders and first responders.

Family entertainment and food vendors also will be on hand, even offering deep-fried brownies. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) unit will offer free inspections of children's safety seats and fingerprinting children. There also will be a free Kid Zone plus raffles and door prizes.

Funds raised by the event will assist in the well being of those who have experienced life-changing and/or life-threatening circumstances in the line of duty or an unexpected incident. Assistance also will be offered to the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our safety.

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, 730 Airport Parkway off U.S. 278, Dallas.

Cost: Free admission.

 

Go Publixing? 

Free dinner is cooked and served at Publix near the deli every day. Portions include entree and accompaniments with Aprons menus varying each week.

Unlike other stores, Publix "will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item," according to their coupon policy.

When: 4 to 7 p.m., daily.

Where: , , —all in Dallas.

Cost: Free.
