Hiram City Council to Begin Its New Year Tonight

The council's return to action had been offset by last week's snow and icy conditions.

The Hiram City Council will begin its business for 2011 a week later than scheduled after about 4 inches of snow paralyzed metro Atlanta and surrounding communities last week. Today's council agenda includes:

  •  A proposal from Parnick Jennings with Shaw Hankins regarding the city’s insurance for medical, dental and life.
  • Hiram Police Chief Gary Yandura is requesting two vehicle replacements for the police department, one marked and one unmarked, to be paid for out of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds. The two replaced vehicles would be kept in service for limited use, according to an HPD memorandum.
  • And the council will consider awarding William Graham Pipeline Inc. a contract in the amount of $68,000, as the company was the lowest bidder for the Nebo Road Stormwater repair project.

The council's work session begins at 5:30, with its business session set to commence at 6:30.
