Incumbent Battle, New Comer Qualify for Hiram City Council

As of this morning, two Hiram City Council incumbents and one new comer have qualified for the Nov. 5 municipal general election.

Hiram Mayor Pro Tem Derrick Battle joins Council Member Teresa Philyaw, as the two incumbents who have qualified so far for City Council for the Nov. 5 municipal general election. Kathy M. Carter, a new comer, has also qualified for Post 5.

Post 5 is currently occupied by Earlene Graham but she has not yet qualified.

The qualification fees are set at $90 for the office of council member.

Candidates may qualify for any of the available post positions at Hiram City Hall, 217 Main Street, today through Friday, Aug. 30, at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications to run for council member are: must be a City of Hiram resident for 12 months; be 21 years of age and a qualified voter of the city.
