Hiram Mayor Pro Tem Derrick Battle joins Council Member Teresa Philyaw, as the two incumbents who have qualified so far for City Council for the Nov. 5 municipal general election. Kathy M. Carter, a new comer, has also qualified for Post 5.
Battle, qualified Tuesday for Hiram City Council Post 4, according to City Clerk Cynthia Geyer and new comer Kathy M. Carter qualified this morning. SPost 5 is currently occupied by Earlene Graham but she has not yet qualified.
The qualification fees are set at $90 for the office of council member.
Candidates may qualify for any of the available post positions at Hiram City Hall, 217 Main Street, today through Friday, Aug. 30, at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Qualifications to run for council member are: must be a City of Hiram resident for 12 months; be 21 years of age and a qualified voter of the city.
