Alcohol Licenses Approved; Sunday Sales Not Considered

Hiram businesses will have to wait at least a few more weeks before they might be able to make package sales of alcohol on Sunday.

A measure to give businesses the green light to sell on Sundays was not on the Hiram City Council’s agenda for its .

City Attorney Glen Stinson following the meeting told Dallas-Hiram Patch that he had not been given a copy of last week’s approved referendum from which an amended alcohol ordinance could have been drafted for council consideration.

But alcohol matters comprised the majority of the council’s agenda, as councilmen approved applications for new alcohol licenses and renewals from several local establishments.

Businesses having their new applications approved for retail consumption on premises were:

In addition, saw its unchanged alcohol retail package license renewal (beer) approved by the council, while saw its renewal of a license for on-premises consumption (beer and wine) also earn council approval.

Councilmen also gave their approving vote for the city to buy four vehicles for the Public Works department:

• A 2012 Ford F150, fully equipped with equipment for public works, at a cost of $20,855.95.
• A 2012 Ford F450, fully equipped with equipment for public works, at a cost of $45,187.95.
• A 2012 Ford F350, fully equipped with equipment for public works, at a cost of  $37,837.95.
• A 2012 Ford E350 15-passenger van, fully equipped with equipment for the state crew transport, at a cost of $23,834.
