BOC Awards Radio System Contract

The new system will put Paulding County in line with FCC regulations to narrow band radio systems.

The Paulding County elections office will run the City of Hiram’s special election for mayor.

The on Tuesday adopted a resolution that will authorize the county’s election office to conduct the election in March. Former Mayor Jack Paris after refusing to be a part of the replacement of the city clerk. The election will be held on March 6 in conjunction with the presidential preference primary.

The BOC also voted to award the low bid for the design and implementation of a UHF MotoTRBO Digital Trunked Land Mobile Radio System to Diversified Electronics at a cost not to exceed $2.6 million. The new radio system is necessary to comply with FCC regulations to narrow band signals. This would also enable the county to use its current system as a backup system, which officials said will lower the county’s ISO rating for fire service.

In other business, the board adopted a resolution approving speed limits and the use of speed detection devices on approximately 125 county roads, a move that officials said is necessary for enforcement and to uphold citations in court.
