Paulding to Implement School Bus Stop-Arm Program

The county is partnering with American Traffic Solutions.

A program intended to cut down on the number of motorists who zip by school buses without stopping is coming to Paulding County.

The county is partnering with American Traffic Solutions, the same company that works with Cobb to issue citations to stop-arm violators too impatient or distracted to wait for buses to pick up and drop off students.

"The Paulding County Sheriff's Office, the Paulding County School District, and the Paulding County District Attorney's Office are teaming up to ensure the safety of our children," according to a post on the Paulding County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

So far, the program in Cobb appears to be working, Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police Department told Patch in February.

While there were about 1,400 violations reported per day "before and during the evolution of this program," Cobb school bus drivers now report 400 violations a day, he said at the time.
