Public Hearing on County Budget Tonight

Dallas-Hiram Patch will bring you coverage of tonight's hearing later this week. The Paulding County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on the budget two weeks from today.

Paulding residents will have a chance tonight to weigh in on the county’s proposed fiscal year 2013 budget.

The is holding at 7 p.m. a public hearing on the budget. The meeting, at which the public is invited to comment on the budget, will be held in the Board of Commissioners meeting room, located on the second floor of the administration building of the Watson Government Complex in Dallas.

The budget is slated to be adopted at the commissioners’ Aug. 14 meeting.

Commissioners touched on budgetary issues at their July 10 meeting. There, the board voted down a proposal to increase the millage rate to 8.364 mills from the . Commissioner Tommie Graham said the proposed higher millage rate would generate the same revenue as in fiscal year 2012.

Copies of the proposed FY 2013 budget can be inspected at the county’s finance department at the Watson Government Complex and at any branch of the Paulding County Public Library.
