Public Hearing Tonight for Hiram Budget
The Hiram City Council meets tonight at 6 p.m.
Hiram Council Members are expected to have a first reading on the city's proposed budget for fiscal year 2013 tonight.
The city's $4.76 million budget includes $1.6 million in expenditures for the police department; $691, 272.90 in expenditures for the administrative department; $504,854.10 in expenditures for public works; $405,343.47 in expenditures for municipal court; and 111,148.38 in expenditures for the mayor and city council.
The council also is expected to have a public hearing on the city's 2012 tax digest and 5-year tax levy history. Hiram doesn't have a property tax, and the proposed millage rate of 2.479 mills is expected to be rolled back to zero, as it has been since 2007.
