School Board Approves FY2012 Millage Rate
Those paying taxes to the district will not see a millage increase in the next fiscal year.
Paulding County School Board members Tuesday unanimously voted to keep the district’s millage rate where it currently stands.
The millage rate, an ad valorem property tax levy in which the owner of a piece of property must pay taxes on it accordance with its value, was 18.909 for the district in November 2010. The board approved a motion keep the same rate for the coming fiscal year, with no deliberation or public comment preceding the vote.
Among other items approved was a revision of Paulding County School District's policy regarding the changing of a student's status from active to dropout. The policy had been that students who miss "20 or more" consecutive days of school were considered to have dropped out. The amended policy reduces that number to 10, meaning that a student is now considered a dropout after 10 consecutive absences at any point.
