Buses Will Roll for Hiram Christmas Event

An intergovernmental agreement will allow the city of Hiram to utilize Paulding County School System buses for Friday's Christmas Tree Lighting event.

The wheels on the bus will go round and round for those attending a city of Hiram event Friday.

Members of the Paulding County School Board at their meeting Tuesday approved an intergovernmental agreement between the school district and the city that will allow Hiram to have school buses transport those attending to and from satellite parking areas. The city will reimburse the district for use of the buses at a rate of 50 cents a mile.

Board members had little other business during the morning meeting but approved Superintendent Cliff Cole’s slate of personnel actions by unanimous vote before adjourning during the 12 p.m. hour. That action came after a three-and-a-half-hour-long closed session that saw no votes come about from it.

Hearings, meetings set for December

District officials will be overseeing several public meetings set for the first two weeks of December.

The first for the month will be a Dec. 8 school community meeting held at . The purpose of the meeting is “to present information and provide opportunity for feedback,” according to the district website, as district officials move forward following . The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s gym.

On Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., three high schools—East Paulding, Hiram and North Paulding—will host the second series of public hearings regarding school redistricting as the system . Officials at the hearings are slated to review the district’s progress to date, introduce a proposed redistricting plan and offer attendees a chance to take part in small-group facilitated discussion on the plan, with input used to revise the proposals into a draft plan or plans. The plan(s) will then be the center of discussion at a Jan. 12 forum at East Paulding High School.

The Dec. 12 and Jan. 12 hearings are all set for 7 p.m.

School board members are set to gather for their last scheduled meeting of the year on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6:15 p.m. That meeting will feature .
