Today Last Chance to Vote Early

Just over 3 percent of county residents have visited the polls so far ahead of the March 6 election day.

Paulding voters today have one last chance to get their votes in early.

Today is the last day for advance voting, and county voters have four locations at which they can cast ballots in the current election—the presidential preference primary. Few so far have taken advantage of advance voting, as when the polls closed for the day Thursday, 2,535 votes had been cast in the election, or about 3 percent of the county’s 82,580 registered voters, according to Deidre Holden, supervisor of Paulding County Elections & Voter Registration.

Just over 1,700 of them, Holden said, had been recorded at the elections office, while three satellite voting locations had each seen a similar number of ballots marked—vote totals there ranged from 270 to 286.

Hiram residents qualified to vote can cast ballots at the Hiram Community Center, 217 Main St. Those who cannot vote today will have their final opportunity to do so on Tuesday, March 6— it’s the same day as the presidential preference primary, but the elections are separate; those wishing to cast ballots for mayor will go to the Hiram Community Center, while those wanting to make a selection in the presidential race will have to travel to their assigned county polling place.

At the end of the day Thursday, 78 votes had been recorded in the Hiram mayor’s race, according to Holden. The city had just over 1,600 registered voters during last November’s elections.

While Hiram residents are the only ones who can take weigh in on their city’s mayoral race, all county voters have the chance to make a selection in the presidential preference primary.
