Two Paulding Candidates To Remain on Ballots

Two three-person races for legislative seats impacting Paulding will remain as is following decisions made Friday by Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

The first will keep Bill Carruth in the race for the District 31 State Senate seat.

Carruth by one of his opponents, incumbent Bill Heath, and Dallas resident Bill Houston. , and according to a news release Monday, Kemp’s decision Friday was to adopt the court’s decision.

Carruth and fellow Dallas resident J.K. Rogers are vying to unseat Heath, who resides in Bremen. All three are running as Republicans.

Also surviving a challenge was incumbent Paulette Rakestraw Braddock of State House District 19. Kemp adopted a judge’s findings of fact and conclusions of law and dismissed the challenge to Braddock's qualifications that had been filed by David Wayne Morgan.

Braddock, of Powder Springs, is being opposed by Michael Ray James of Acworth and Melissa Morrison of Dallas in the GOP primary.

In both legislative races, the candidates who emerge victorious in the primary election will remain in office or will be set to take office in January, as no Democratic or independent candidates sought either office.
