Vote on Hiram City Manager Set for Tonight

Six finalists for the new position were named earlier this month.

officials could name tonight the person they intend to offer the position of city manager—a move that would bring the months-long process of establishing the position of city manager very close to its end.

City leaders earlier this month —Karen Degges, Raymon Gibson, Richard D. Hampton, Jack E. Miller, Angela D. Montgomery and Robert T. Rokovitz. One of them could receive the Hiram city council’s approval during a called meeting set for tonight at 6.

Tonight’s meeting will see the council enter closed session to discuss personnel issues. According to the meeting’s agenda, that personnel business includes discussing the hiring of the “Executive Head of an agency”—the city manager—and the appointment of public officers.

Once councilmen return from the closed session, they could vote to consider making a hire for the city manager job.

A hire would be the conclusion of the city’s six-month journey toward getting a city manager. In February, to allow for the addition of a city manager to the payroll.
