Wind Advisory In Effect; Flurries Possible

Wind gusts as high as 35 mph are possible, while the mercury will dip below the freezing mark, leading to the possibility of light snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for many Georgia counties, including Paulding, warning about winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. The advisory is active until midnight tonight.

A hazardous weather outlook issued Thursday morning said light snow was possible across north Georgia tonight, though the local forecast as of late Thursday afternoon merely called for a 30-percent chance of rain before 7 p.m. Tonight’s temps are expected to slide down into the mid 20s.

Despite the small probability of snow, the warns drivers about the potential for ice to develop on bridges and overpasses, as well as the chance of falling tree limbs or power lines due to weather conditions.

Wind may also make driving difficult, authorities say.

On the chance that Paulding is dusted by snow, it’s not likely to stick around. Friday’s high temperature is expected to hit the low 40s under mostly sunny skies. Tonight’s winds are expected to stick around somewhat, with the forecast calling for a west wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Friday night could be even colder than tonight, with the low expected to dip to 21 degrees or so.
