Calling All Heroes To Fight Cancer

Now is the time to enlist your team for the 2014 Relay For Life of Paulding County.

Thursday marked the official end of the 2013 season of Relay For Life of Paulding County—and the start of the 2014 campaign.

Several team awards were given out at Thursday night’s Wrap Up/Charge Up Rally at Stars and Strikes in Dallas, with those on hand learning how much was raised during the 2013 season. With the help of 68 teams—ranging from schools, churches, businesses, friends and families—the Paulding County community raised $203,732 that will go toward the fight against cancer.

Relay supporters are hoping to bring in more teams and more money in the 2014 season—and now is the time to join the fight! While the next Relay For Life of Paulding County is set for May 16, 2014, in White Oak Park in Dallas, teams are already joining the cause.

The theme for 2014 is “Superheroes,” and those who have assembled their team and are ready to take the fight to cancer can log onto www.relayforlife.org/pauldingga to register. Early bird registration is currently under way for $5 per person, which is 50 percent off the normal registration price.

In addition to the cheaper registration cost, another reason to register early is that the order of registration will determine which teams will pick their campsites first. The 10 teams that raised the most money in 2013 will get the first choice of campsites, followed by the remaining teams in the order in which they registered.

The next team meeting will be held Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at Stars and Strikes. Captains of new and returning teams are invited to attend.
