‘Turner’s Pack’ Back for Relay For Life of Paulding County 2014!

Meet another one of the teams continuing the fight against cancer.

Updated Dec. 21, 2013

On Monday, we introduced you to one of the teams from the 2013 Relay season that have registered to continue their fight against cancer. Today, we want you to meet Turner’s Pack, a team that will be taking part in its second Relay For Life of Paulding County campaign when the 2014 event is held May 16-17. (Click here to learn more about the event.)

Tracy Cummins, co-captain for Turner’s Pack, shared with us the history behind the team and its name:

We have dedicated this team in support and honor of a dear friend, Laura Turner. Many of you may know Laura as she has lived and worked in Paulding County for many years and touched many lives from the kindergartners she teaches to the fellow fans and opponents she meets at the many baseball, football and basketball games she attends. She has battled cancer twice and always has a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She continually gives of herself by volunteering in school activities and coaching the little tiny tots at Burnt Hickory Park.

She is one of the strongest women we are blessed to know and she's an encouragement to each of us every day. She is walking proof that this disease CAN be beat and together we will walk and work to raise funds to find a cure. Using our school mascot (the Wolfpack) for inspiration, we are joining together with a common bond and Turner's ‘Pack’ will walk to find a cure!

Laura would LOVE for anyone—but especially North Paulding kids—to join our team!

Cummins says the team’s planned fundraising events include a dinner/silent auction in January and a bowling event at Stars and Strikes. While a date has not been set for the bowling event, the dinner/silent auction will be held Friday, Jan. 24, at Hickory Heights Baptist Church, 221 Dabbs Bridge Road, Dallas.
