Cash Prizes Awarded for Upcoming Student Art Show

Paulding County students between the ages of three years and 18 years of age are invited to participate. Each student may enter one art work.

This year the 2013 Student Art Show will be held in March. Paulding County students between the ages of three years and 18 years of age are invited to participate. Each student may enter one art work. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age group (6 and under; 7 & 8 yr; 9 & 10 yr; 11 & 12 yr; 13 & 14 yr; 15 & 16 yr and 17 & 18 yr. Both 2 and 3-D works will be accepted.

Student work should be brought to the Dallas Civic Center on Saturday, March 2nd between 1 and 4 p.m. The Civic Center is located at 121 East Griffin Street in downtown Dallas just off Main Street behind the Dallas Theater. A reception and awards presentation will be held Sunday, March 10 in the Civic Center between 2 and 4 p.m. The Awards Presentation will begin at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $2 per student. We are proud to present the Paulding Photo Club as our first exhibit in the Courtroom Gallery at the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios. Sixty-five beautiful photos adorn the walls in this former courtroom. Gallery hours are Thursday-Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Courtroom Gallery is located on the second floor of the old Paulding Count Courthouse located at 11 Courthouse Square in Dallas.

Stop by the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios and see what our local artists are up to. Gallery and Studio doors are open Thursday, Friday & Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are a variety of classes that are on going; artists at work in their studios and wonderful items for sale in the gift shop. Paulding Fine Arts is now featuring two member artists each month in the Reception Room at the Historic Courthouse Gallery and Studios. Rosine Wilson and Paulette Cheek are the Featured Artists for February. On your next visit to the Courthouse Gallery, stop by the reception room and see a collection of works by these two artists.

The Paulding Fine Arts Association meets the fourth Tuesday of each month.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery located in the Dallas Civic Center located at 121 E Griffin Street in Dallas. The program will be presented by our own Susan Gore Gardner who will demonstrate pastel work. Susan is a talented artist and currently has an exhibit titled "Rock to Bluegrass" at the Carrollton Cultural Art Center in Carrollton. I am torn on this decision. Even though homosexuality is a sin, it is no greater a sin than lyingRead More or cheating. If the troop had boys who were not Christian & they were committing those sins then that sin was being brought into the church. I think Christians need to remember that no one sin is greater than another. I think the parents of the boy scouts would have to determine if they wanted their child to participate in the troop if their was a homosexual in their group. However, the church hosted the Boy Scouts upon a certain charter. When that charter was changed then the church has the right to decide if they want to continue the association. I know of other churches that ended their hosting of Boy Scouts last year because the group was becoming too politically polarizing & they felt that conflicted with the ministry of the church. It is a fine line with views on both sides but I feel each church has to decide what is best for them...it is after all their facilities.

Don't believe for one minute that there is notRead More one homosexual in your congregation, or for that matter an adulterer, a fornicator, a thief, a liar, the list goes on. And if you are a real stickler, any divorcee that has dated or remarried is committing sin every day. I do not believe in the gay lifestyle but I do believe in what good the boy scouts do. Shame on you for abandoning them when they need you the most
