Five Paulding schools received good news in the updated Adequate Yearly Progress report released Tuesday.

Tuesday’s report revealed that three elementary schools—Abney, Dallas and Panter—as well as McClure Middle and North Paulding High ultimately made AYP. But eight schools remained short of goals—Baggett Elementary; Austin, East Paulding and Scoggins middle schools; and East Paulding, Hiram, Paulding County and South Paulding high schools.

Making AYP has become tougher in recent years due to the ramping up of academic goals. Schools across the state will have to continue to increase their academic results as goals move closer to a required 100-percent proficiency for all students by 2014.
