Officials with the Paulding Education Foundation are hoping to raise $14,000 through a golf tournament on Monday to fund scholarships and grants.
This is the second time the foundation has hosted the Autumn Golf Classic, and Executive Director Amy Mollohan said she plans it to become an annual event. The first golf tournament was held two years ago.
"It’s a great way for the businesses who partner with the foundation to not only promtote their business but also help the public schools," Mollohan said. "It makes for a great day."
The golf tournament will be held at Creekside Golf Club in Hiram. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is scheduled for 9 a.m. A putting contest will be held before the golf tournament and will begin at 8:30 a.m. The winner will receive $10,000. Lunch will be catered by Rodney’s Bar-B-Que and Catering, and there will be goody baskets available from corporate sponsors.
So far, 72 golfers have signed up to participate. Walkups can sign up on the day of the event. The cost to play is $75.
This year, the Paulding Education Foundation gave its annual gift to three schools -- Poole Elementary School, Austin Middle School and South Paulding High School. The organization also gives out $15,00 a year to Paulding County seniors.
