Hiram High’s Hamby Wins Top Teacher Honors

The English teacher was selected for the honor among the Teachers of the Year from all the schools in the district.

Pasty Hamby of Hiram High School was named last week Paulding County Schools’ District Teacher of the Year. Each school submits the name of their local Teacher of the Year winner and a community panel picks the district’s winner from those nominees.

Hamby, who teaches English, said she began teaching due to her love of Shakespeare.

“I was totally surprised and am greatly appreciative of the honor. Now I feel that I have to continuously prove that I deserve it!” Hamby said for a district news release.

“I am very excited for and proud of Ms. Patsy Hamby,” said Jason Freeman, Hiram High’s principal, in the release. “She is a very valuable member of our Hiram Family. She genuinely cares about every student that enters her classroom and she works very hard to differentiate instruction so that every student has an opportunity to be successful. She is very deserving of this distinguished honor.
