Time is running out for parents who wish to send their student(s) to a different school in Paulding County next year.
Under House Bill 251, which became effective during the 2009-2010 school year, parents of students enrolled in a public elementary or secondary school in Georgia have the chance to enroll their child in a school located within their school system but other than the one to which they were assigned by the local board of education—but only if the school has classroom space available after its assigned students have been enrolled. The parent must assume the responsibility and cost of transportation of the student to and from the school. A copy of HB 251 is attached to this article.
The Paulding County School System will take school choice applications until 5 p.m. Friday. A copy of the application is attached to this article.
Schools currently receiving school choice students are:
Elementary Schools
- New Georgia Elementary
- Ragsdale Elementary
- Russom Elementary
Middle Schools
- Scoggins Middle
High Schools
