Video: Parents Hear P.B. Ritch Redistricting Plans

Thursday's public hearing gave attendees a chance to see the updated redistricting map.

It took officials with Paulding County Schools Thursday less than 30 minutes to begin and end a public hearing on the latest plan to move students to new elementary schools next year .

Associate Superintendent Brian Otott gave a presentation outlining the redistricting timeline and the plan itself, which, if left unchanged, would break up the current P.B. Ritch attendance zone and send some students to and the remaining kids to .

Previously, district officials had included as a school that would take in some of the P.B. Ritch students, but parent feedback led to that school being taken out of the plan.

Parents during the meeting also had a chance to ask Otott and other officials questions about the plan and what would come next for staff and students. The hearing was officially ended after about 30 minutes, though district leaders stayed to answer parents’ remaining questions.
