Paulding Band a Finalist in Radio Show Contest

The South Paulding High School band needs your votes in order to win the "Battle of the High School Marching Bands" and its $5,000 grand prize. Find out how you can help.

The South Paulding High School band could be in for an early Christmas present, but only if its supporters go online one more time to cast their votes in an Atlanta-based radio show’s contest.

The “Spirit of South Paulding” has for the fourth time advanced in The Bert Show’s "Battle of the High School Marching Bands." It was one of 28 high school bands to begin the contest; the latest round of online voting ended Sunday night, and South Paulding earned more votes than Walnut Grove High School in Loganville to move on to the contest’s final round.

The local band is now competing against Brookwood High, the only other school remaining in the contest. Bert Show listeners and band supporters who visit the contest website can view videos of the two bands performing and then vote on their favorite in the competition’s ultimate matchup.

Voting ends Sunday, Dec. 16, and the winner is set to be announced Monday, Dec. 17. The winning band will receive $5,000, according to the radio show’s Facebook page.

The first round of the contest also had the Hiram High School “Band of Gold” competing against Hillgrove High, but the latter ended up advancing in the contest.
