Paulding County High School's Principal Retiring

Principal Eddie Fincher will be stepping down at the end of the current school year, but is assisting his successor until his term expires.

The Paulding County Schools administrator who came out of retirement to provide guidance for a local high school is leaving his post this summer.

Eddie Fincher was working at Grace Christian Academy after retiring from the Paulding County School System in June 2010. He was "recalled to the colors" to help provide leadership for Paulding County High School.

Fincher announced over spring break this year that he would be retiring from Paulding County High School at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, and that a replacement has already been named.

"We would like to welcome aboard Dr. Paul McMahon as your newly appointed Principal," wrote Fincher in a letter to parents. "I have enjoyed my years as a Patriot and hope that through our work together we have set The Paulding County High School on a course for success."

McMahon hails from Sprayberry High School in northeast Cobb County, where he was serving as an associate principal under the leadership of Ed Wagner.

McMahon graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans and earned his doctorate at UGA. He has over 20 years of experience in school administration, and 30 years of experience in the education field.

McMahon began work officially on April 15, but Fincher has remained in an advisory capacity to help his successor through the last few weeks of the current school year.
