Realistic Crash Scenario Readies Seniors for Prom

Paulding High School's drama class helped create a realistic DUI crash scenario with Paulding County Fire/Rescue, Sheriffs Office, and the Georgia State Patrol.

Prom season is right around the corner, which means an increase in teen driving incidents and fatalities. That's why Liberty Mutual Insurance teamed up with local police and fire agencies to demonstrate to the students of South Paulding High School what prom might look like if they make poor decisions.

In the first attached video,Β Amy L. Eller's South Paulding drama class helped create realistic a DUI crash scenario with Fire/Rescue, Sheriffs Office, and the Georgia State Patrol. Deputy Brian Fitzgerald warns students that this could become a real-life scenario if they don't act responsibly.

In the second video, SPHS student Tyler Boozer, an 18-year-old senior, shares why he thought the demonstration was important.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-to-20-year-olds. In 2008, 2,739 teen drivers were killed and an additional 272,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Β

Liberty Mutual co-sponsored the event with the help of Officer Fitzgerald at South Paulding High School.

"We hope that this event can have a positive impact on your teen for years to come," said Megan Weldon of Liberty Mutual.
