Three Schools Hosting Redistricting Meetings Tonight

No proposed maps have been drawn—these meetings are to introduce the redistricting process and to facilitate input from stakeholders.

Officials with next fall are set to open , but before that happens, district lines will have to be redrawn to determine who goes into that school.

The redistricting process officially gets underway tonight, as school system officials are hosting today at 7 p.m. three forums—at , and high schools—aimed at introducing the redistricting process to stakeholders and gathering their input for review before moving forward in the process. No proposed redistricting maps have been drawn at this stage in the process.

the majority of time at tonight’s meetings would have parents and community members in small-group sessions with facilitators so they can offer their input on the process. He said the group sizes should be limited to 10-12 community members.

Subsequent forums will be held Dec. 12—again at the three high schools—with a final forum set for Jan. 12, 2012, at East Paulding High.
