Tornado Watch Remains in Effect

Roberts Elementary was among the schools that took precautions during midday tornado warning.

Though a tornado warning issued midday today did not ultimately herald any realized danger, Paulding County remains under a tornado watch until 7 tonight.

WSB TV reported around midday that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was heading toward , but officials with said the school and those in it were not adversely affected by the threatening weather. No tornado was reported to have touched down in or around that area.

“Roberts just like all of our schools were in severe weather mode in their hallways,” said David Colvard, executive director of Safety and Athletics for Paulding County Schools. “There was nothing different for Roberts. Once the warning expired they were allowed to go back to normal mode but continuing close monitoring of conditions around their school. We monitor weather channels, maps, law enforcement and TV stations in our district office and stay in constant communication with our schools.”
