Video: South Soccer Standout Heading to UNC

South Paulding High soccer player Nyambi Jabang will be heading to the University of North Carolina on a full scholarship.

While the community recognized Feb. 1 five football players’ commitments to colleges as part of National Signing Day, a sixth Spartan athlete’s future also was celebrated.

Soccer player Nyambi Jabang received a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina. Jabang took part in the morning ceremonies that saw his and the five other athletes’ accomplishments recognized by athletic staff.

According to South Paulding Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Chris McAllister, Jabang came to the South Paulding community as 14 year old from Gambia. He played two seasons with the Spartan soccer team and committed to UNC after his sophomore season. He tore his ACL after his sophomore year but has been working diligently since the injury to get back to full strength, McAllister added.
