East Paulding Survives Scare, 10-6

The Raiders win their likely home finale against Southwest DeKalb in a defensive battle.

It wasn’t easy or pretty, but won its first-round football playoff game against Southwest DeKalb at the Boneyard on Friday night, 10-6.

The Raiders (10-1) took the lead on Miles Hemphill’s extra point after running back Terrell Hannah threw a five-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Trey Lane, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

East Paulding carried that 7-6 lead into halftime, as Paulding Sports tweeted, then added a Hemphill field goal in the second half for the final margin.

It was the Raiders’ lowest point total of the season. They had been held below 30 points only twice all season: in the season-opening 27-0 win over South Paulding and in their 29-23 loss to Pope.

East Paulding must leave Dallas for its second-round game in the Georgia High School Association AAAA playoffs. The Raiders will play Friday night at Northgate (11-0), which beat North Clayton, 42-7, to remain unbeaten.
