Summer is here, and one of the coolest things to experience is a trip to your local farmers market. Summer is the time of year when local farmers are bringing fresh produce like summer squash, beans, peas, greens, potatoes, onions, garlic, and of course those market staples like corn, okra, melons and tomatoes, apples and lots of fresh peaches!

The Paulding County Farm Bureau sponsors a biweekly farmers market held every Tuesday from May 29th - Tuesday July 31st, and every Friday from April through November 30th, 2012.

In addition to farm produce, the PCFB Farmers Market has vendors who sell farm fresh eggs, meat, milk, cheese, preserves, pickles, baked goods, sweets, dehydrated foods, crafts, and lots of other great locally produced items including small livestock.

With the kids out of school, how about bringing the entire family to your local market and let them meet the farmers and other vendors, and teach them about where their food really comes from!

The PCFB Farmers Market is located at 2515 Marietta Hwy., Dallas, GA 30157. This is the empty lot at the intersection of Hwy.92/Hwy.120 across from Stars and Strikes. For more information, contact the market manager at 678-429-8862 or by visiting pauldingfarmers.blogspot.com.

My wife and I moved to Dallas Ga last week from Panama City Beach. We are used to buying the bulk of our produce from the local farmers market there, so we thought to continue that here as well. Our expectations were pretty high as this is a much larger area by population and has a larger agricultural area as well.
Boy were we surprised to see the Paulding County and Dallas City farmers markets. Both markets are so small and the prices so high with such a limited selection that I doubt we will be back to either. We were amazed that both markets only had 2 vendors selling actual produce. And the selection and prices of those vendors was ridiculous. Aside from those vendors there was a boy scout tent, a goat soap vendor, A goat cheese vendor, a vendor with canned goods and another with Brittle.... Coming from an area with a population just over 5000 (panama city beach) and a peripheral area of just 35,000 (panama city) the 2 farmers markets there have over 30 vendors at one and 50 vendors at the other. And the prices are excellent due to the competition. I have many times had 3 or 4 Walmart bags full of produce and only spent $15. So locals, where can I go to get the goods I require at a good price???

I am torn on this decision. Even though homosexuality is a sin, it is no greater a sin than lyingRead More or cheating. If the troop had boys who were not Christian & they were committing those sins then that sin was being brought into the church. I think Christians need to remember that no one sin is greater than another. I think the parents of the boy scouts would have to determine if they wanted their child to participate in the troop if their was a homosexual in their group. However, the church hosted the Boy Scouts upon a certain charter. When that charter was changed then the church has the right to decide if they want to continue the association. I know of other churches that ended their hosting of Boy Scouts last year because the group was becoming too politically polarizing & they felt that conflicted with the ministry of the church. It is a fine line with views on both sides but I feel each church has to decide what is best for them...it is after all their facilities.

Do we not remember who Jesus surrounded himself with? Don't believe for one minute that there is notRead More one homosexual in your congregation, or for that matter an adulterer, a fornicator, a thief, a liar, the list goes on. And if you are a real stickler, any divorcee that has dated or remarried is committing sin every day. I do not believe in the gay lifestyle but I do believe in what good the boy scouts do. Shame on you for abandoning them when they need you the most
