Sheriffs from three counties will help raise funds for the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes with a motorcycle ride. On Saturday, the 8th Annual Lamar Hunton Memorial Ride will be hosted by Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge, Polk County Sheriff J. Kelly McLendon and Haralson County Sheriff Eddie Mixon.
The five campuses of the Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes are in urgent need of funding, according to the sheriffs. The homes "provide the best, possible full-time residential care for dependent, neglected, abandoned and abused children of Georgia," they say.
Donations are tax deductible. On-site registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Paulding Senior Center, 54 Industrial Way N., Dallas. With law enforcement escort, the ride leaves at 11 a.m. and lunch is included.
Chick-fil-A biscuits will be served along with hamburgers and hot dogs from Sam's Club. There also will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Raffle tickets for a get-away package and for Glock will cost $5 each.
