Friday Football Preview

The 2011 football season begins Friday. Where will you be when the action kick's off?

The 2011 football season is finally here. There has been a spattering of games throughout the area, but tonight is the night where most of the football teams kick off.

Here's what's on the slate for schools in the Dallas-Hiram Patch:

Hiram (0-0) at Douglas County (0-0) – Hiram opens with a rematch of last year’s season opener, which the Hornets won 24-0. That win was the first of four straight as the Hornets finished 9-3. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

North Paulding (0-0) at Paulding County (0-0) –  North Paulding begins its fourth season after having missed the playoffs a season ago despite its 6-4 record. The Wolfpack will try to get their offense rolling like they did a year ago when they scored 50 or more points four times, including a 50-7 win over Paulding County in the season opener. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

East Paulding (0-0) at South Paulding (0-0) – East Paulding finished second in Region 5-AAAA and made a run to the state quarterfinals before losing to eventual state finalist Starr’s Mill. The Raiders blanked South Paulding 34-0 to start the season last year, but the Spartans – buoyed by last year’s six-game winning streak – should be able to put up a better fight on Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
