Friday Football Preview: Douglas County Invasion
After Thursday's in-town matchup, tonight's action features two teams from Douglas County coming to town, and Hiram traveling to Kell.
Alexander (2-2, 1-0) at South Paulding (2-2, 1-0) – After starting the season with a brutal loss, has played good football and scored 35 points in each of its three games, winning two of them. The key for the Cougars is defense. When Alexander holds teams to 21 points or fewer, they win. blanked Villa Rica last week in Region 5S-AAAA play and has increased its scoring output in each week its played. One of these teams will move to 2-0 in region play tonight.
Chapel Hill (2-2, 1-0) at Paulding County (1-2, 0-0) – The Patriots will host tonight and haven’t done much with the football over their last two games, scoring just nine and six points, respectively. After a week off to regroup, will look to get back to Week 1 standards when it scored 41 points. The Panthers are on a two-game winning streak after edging Douglas County last Friday to begin Region 5S-AAAA play.
Hiram (3-1, 1-0) at Kell (2-2, 0-1) – fell from the AP Top-10 ranks this week after its first Region 5-AAAA loss of the season last Friday to East Paulding. Hiram got off to a good start in region play with a win over Osborne. The Longhorns will face a team tonight that has only given up 13 points combined over the last two weeks. To make it to 2-0 in the region, Hiram must keep the defensive tenacity up.
