Friday Football Preview: East, South Fight for Playoffs
Hiram, North and South are hosting games tonight while Paulding County and South travel.
Villa Rica (6-3, 5-1) at East Paulding (8-1, 5-1) – Region 5-AAAA is split into two subregions of seven teams. But only four of the 14 teams will qualify for the playoffs. That’s why, this week, the top four teams from each subregion will compete in play-in games. The South subregion No. 3 seed, Villa Rica, will travel to , the No. 2 seed of the North subregion. East Paulding rebounded last week after taking its first loss of the season on Oct. 21.
Paulding County (2-7, 1-5) at Hiram (3-6, 1-5) – Because of the play-in games for the top four teams in each Region 5-AAAA subregion, and will face off tonight for the second time this season. The Hornets beat the Patriots on Sept. 9, 32-6.
South Paulding (6-3, 5-1) at Kell (7-2, 5-1) - The South subregion No. 2 seed, , will travel to , the No. 3 seed of the North subregion. South Paulding has the best defense in the South subregion, allowing just 12 points per game. Kell is cruising of late, winning five-straight and scoring an average of 50 points per game over the last two weeks.

Douglas County (2-7, 2-4) at North Paulding (3-6, 1-5) – No team has given up more points this season in Region 5-AAAA play than , who gives up 38 points per game, on average. The Wolfpack will need to stop their defensive woes to beat tonight who beat Paulding County last week, 22-0.
