North Paulding Storms Back to Beat Rival South Paulding

The North Paulding Wolfpack came back in the second half to score a big win over the Spartans of South Paulding High School.

It was Homecoming at , and things were looking really good for the home team in the first half. The Spartans jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on a touchdown reception by Jonathan Pritchett, which was set up by an interception return by Jae Bowen.

responded with a rushing touchdown by sophomore Cornelius Collins.

South Paulding's Cedric Davis hauled in another touchdown reception to put his team ahead 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

On the first play of the second quarter, North Paulding quarterback/placekicker Zach Cummins hit a field goal to make the score 14-10. The Wolfpack then shocked the stadium by recovering the ensuing onside kick.

North Paulding was unable to generate a first down and then an excellent punt by Marcus Anderson pinned South Paulding inside its own 10-yard line. After a couple of costly penalties by the Spartans, running back Steven Johnson was tackled in his own end zone for a safety. The safety made it 14-12 in favor of South Paulding.

Momentum swung back to South Paulding when it blocked a punt after North Paulding was unable to mount a drive following the safety. On the next play after the punt block, South Paulding's Cedric Davis caught another touchdown pass. The Spartans led 21-12, but they would not score again.

North Paulding quarterback Zach Cummins scrambled for a touchdown just before the intermission, and the halftime score was South Paulding 21, North Paulding 19.

The only touchdown of the second half came on the first play of the fourth quarter when North Paulding receiver Joel Brooks caught a touchdown pass from Cummins. Cummins and Brooks also connected on the extra point to give the Wolfpack a 27-21 lead.

South Paulding was unable to gain any offensive consistency in the second half, and the game ended with North Paulding defeating South Paulding, 27-21.
