Paulding Runners Participate in Peachtree Road Race

A 17-year-old Hiram resident was the fastest participant from Paulding. See who from the county placed high in the standings and learn where you can see more coverage of the race from Patch.

Two runners from Paulding County came in under the 40-minute mark at Wednesday’s Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, according to results reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Paulding’s fastest runner was 17-year-old Nicholas Orvino of Hiram, who placed 382nd overall with a time of 39 minutes and 7 seconds. The next fastest from Paulding was 35-year-old Russell Brand of Dallas, who logged a time of 39:46—good for 435th in overall results. Brand’s from his time of 41 minutes even last year.

Karen Wagner, 44, of Hiram, was the fastest woman out of the county’s entrants. She posted a time of 41:28—good for 650th overall; . Dallas’ fastest woman was 40-year-old Angela Flower, who placed 846th with a time of 42:35.

The three other local runners cracking the top 1,000 were all from Dallas—22-year-old Chase Babineaux placed 577th with a time of 41:01; 28-year-old Will Eustace placed 827th with his finish of 42:27; and 30-year-old James Jeffries notched a time of 43:13, good for 950th overall.

The winner of the 2012 Peachtree Road Race was Peter Kirui, who completed the course in 27 minutes, 37 seconds. Not far behind were Micah Kogo and Mathew Kisorio, who placed second and third, respectively, each with finishes of 27:39. All three men are from Kenya.

Georgia’s top runner was Ty McCormack, whose finish of 30:30 placed him 26th overall. McCormack was the state’s top runner last year as well but improved on his previous finish of 31:01.
