Frugal Family: Consignment Sales in Nearby Communities
This weekend nearby churches will host children's consignment sales in Cartersville, Douglasville and Powder Springs.
We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

1. Cartersville Consignment Sale
Deal: About 250 sellers will participate in this weekend's God's Little Sprouts sale at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cartersville. Quality used items will include clothes (sized newborn through juniors), shoes, toys, books, games, bicycles, baby furniture, layette sets, maternity wear and strollers.
Many items will be half off on Saturday. Part of the proceeds will go to various ministries of the church, including many local charities that help organizations and needy individuals in the community.
Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday; 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday.
Location: Family Life Center, Trinity United Methodist Church, 814 West Ave., Cartersville.

2. Children's Consignment Sale in Powder Springs
Deal: The Twice Blessed Children's Consignment Sale will begin Thursday and continue through part of Saturday. Many items sell for half price on Saturday from more than 200 sellers.
These sales are held each spring and fall. No strollers are allowed due to fire safety codes.
Hours: Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Gym, McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church, 4075 Macland Road, Powder Springs (corner of Macland and Lost Mountain Roads near Kroger).

3. New Life Christian Preschool Consignment Sale
Deal: This public sale will benefit the church's preschool ministry. Admission is free.
Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Strollers are welcome.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.
Location: New Life Christian Church, 5897 Prestley Mill Road, Douglasville, near Interstate 20.

Deal: More than 110 sellers will participate this weekend. This semi-annual sale benefits cancer organizations.
Quality infant, children and junior clothing plus shoes, toys and baby equipment will be sold. New and gently used scrapbook supplies and tools also will be offered.
This event is free and open to the public. Cash, checks and all major credit cards are accepted.
Still needed, volunteers will receive a preview pass to the private Wednesday evening sale.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.
