Halstead Family to Receive Renovated Home After Tragedy

Sunshine on a Ranney Day to reveal Tripp Halstead's complete home makeover on Saturday, July 13

Sunshine on a Ranney Day, a non-profit organization that creates dream room makeovers for children with long-term illnesses in the greater-Atlanta area, will reveal their biggest and most extensive home makeover to date at the completely remodeled home of Tripp Halstead and his family on Saturday, July 13 in Jefferson, GA.

The Halstead family was changed forever in October 2012 when high winds from Hurricane Sandy caused a limb to break and fall directly onto two-year-old Tripp Halstead who was playing at his daycare. Emergency surgery revealed the impact of the tree limb shattered Tripp’s skull into multiple pieces. Miraculously, Tripp survived the initial surgery. His subsequent recovery has had ups and down, both physically for him, and emotionally for his family. Tripp has endured numerous surgeries and has proven to be a fighter as he faces countless obstacles. Social media chronicling his fight has garnered a following of nearly 620,000 people.

Out of a need to accommodate Tripp’s wheelchair and special needs, the Halstead’s sold their home and purchased a foreclosed one closer to family members who could provide additional support for the family. However, the home required extensive work to make it accessible and compatible with Tripp’s needs.
