The public is invited to attend this weekend's Georgia Military Softball Championship.

Dozens of teams from across the country will descend on Paulding County this weekend to take part in the 2011 Georgia Military Softball Championship. Find out more about this event in our video feature.

The event will see more than 50 teams—men’s, women’s and co-ed—hitting the field Saturday and Sunday. The majority of the action will be at on East Paulding Drive off Ga. 92 in Dallas, though the sheer number of entering teams has led organizers to schedule some of the games at Taylor Farm Park in Powder Springs.

Bats will swing and balls will fly the evening before the weekend’s games, however, as two home run derbies are set for Friday at 7 p.m. at Mount Tabor. The winner of each contest—one for military and the other for civilians—will receive a bat.
