Registration Open for April 16's Inaugural Miss Relay for Life Pageant

The Paulding County Government Team is putting on this fundraising event for Relay for Life.

The Paulding County Government Relay for Life “Cure for Construction” Team has announced their inaugural Miss Relay for Life Pageant to be held Saturday, April 16, at Chattahoochee Technical College in Dallas.

All proceeds from the pageant will go directly to Relay for Life. Through Relay for Life events such as this, much needed funds are ultimately raised to benefit the American Cancer Society and their quest in the fight against cancer. In 2010, Paulding County was in the top 10 percent of teams in the entire South Atlantic region for their fundraising efforts.

“As you know, Relay is a life-changing event that gives people just like you a reason to celebrate, remember and fight back against a disease that has taken too much,” said Susan Creed, South Atlantic Division Vice President.

The Paulding County Government Team decided to go with a pageant in the hopes of raising even more money for the event this year. Government Team Chairwoman Rebecca Merideth said it was an idea that she and Co-Chairwoman Kenda Johnson just came up with and decided to run with it.

Categories are currently open for contestants from age 1 month to 20 years old. The pageant will begin at 8 a.m., with the first category to be for babies age one to 11 months. There is a $75 entry fee. There also will be a Most Photogenic contest, with a $10 entry fee. Contestants who enter this category must submit a photo no larger than 8x10 with their name written on the back.
